Home

I have to say I love my new trailer. Before we got this one we were living in an RV. Talk about a minimalist lifestyle. There is only so much you put into one of those before they start looking crowded (which ours was by the way). So in the process of moving to our new camp trailer, I went through everything we had (with a lot of help from my husband) and we managed to get our things down to what would actually fit into the trailer. After 2 weeks of working on the inside it is finally starting to look like home.

20151116_11544220151116_11545120151116_115458

I am so pleased with the way it is turning out! It is still a small space, but it fits well with how my husband and I want to live. We have the ability to stay in one place but yet the flexibility of moving whenever we want to. Because for the most part it is just me and him now this place is about the right size (even though it is in reality the same size as the RV we were in) for the two of us. Plus if one of the kids comes over for a night or 2 the couch pulls down into a bed as well. So it really appears to be the best of both worlds for us.

Have a great day!

Coffee!

Day 11: Writing 101

Photo from: www.alternativeconsumer.com
Photo from: www.alternativeconsumer.com

Hmm....what can one say about coffee? Umm...how bout love the stuff! I sit here writing this post right now with a cup of hot coffee right next to me. I start every day with a cup (or more) of coffee. It's not that I need it to wake up or anything (I can go to sleep right after drinking a cup of coffee), I just love the taste of it. Of course if you ask my husband I drink foo foo coffee because I use cream (flavored of course usually french vanilla or chocolate which I make myself).

Why do I love coffee? I really don't know how to answer that. I guess I love the flavor of it. As long as the coffee has a flavored cream in it I love it. Of course just certain flavors. I love the taste of a good fresh cup of coffee. I think if I knew how to grow and roast the coffee beans it would probably be even better, but I will leave that part to the people who know how to do it.

What are your thoughts on coffee? I would love to hear about your favorite cup.

Have a great day!

Victory!

In response to The Daily Post's weekly photo challenge: "Victory."

Today is all about the win!

I show this photo as a win because we have had our chickens for almost a year yet just finally started getting eggs about a week ago. Anyone that follows me on Facebook saw this picture then. I was so excited about finally getting eggs. Yes, this was definitely a victory!

Have a great day!

Let the Scene Write Itself

Day 10: Writing 101

Today we are to write "on location" if possible. For me this is not possible so I went out for a bit yesterday and managed to get a pretty good shot of the sunset. sunset

I love the sunsets in Arizona as they are usually very colorful as was this one. I love to sit on the back porch to watch the sun go down. I think I have many pictures similar to this one because this is my favorite time of day. What do you think of when you see this picture? I would love to hear your responses on this one.

Have a great day!

To Write or Not Write…

That is the question today.

Day 9: Writing 101

Let's see....what do I do when not writing? I guess that would depend on the day. I have a small garden that I work in most days. I have my chickens and my dogs to tend to. But I think what I love to do the most is to get out in nature. A walk in the hills, a walk in the desert, or even just a walk around the neighborhood is a good way for me to rejuvenate. I try to get out for at least a little bit every day, but lately I'm getting a little stir crazy. I think it's about time to take a weekend trip again soon....That would be fun.

Also, I am looking for someone(s) to a featured post. Something around reading (how much you love it and why, good books you have read lately, or even books you have heard of and want to read). If you are interested in doing this I can be contacted at renee@homeandlovingit.com or homeandlovingit71@gmail.com. I would like to do at least one but if I get more than one person to respond maybe I will make a series out of it.

Have a great day!

A letter

Day 8: Writing 101

Reinvent the Letter Format

Photo from: www.psychologytoday.com
Photo from: www.psychologytoday.com

I have always been big on writing letters. I love to write letters. Something about the pen in hand and the paper on the desk always makes me feel good. That is, until I saw our choices. Of course the one choice that stuck out for me was a letter to someone who can't respond (such as  loved one who has passed on). I mean who doesn't want to say something to a loved one who has passed. I know I do. It seems that we never say what we need to say to that person when he or she is alive so a letter to a loved one it is.

Aunt Sharon,

I can't believe you have been gone for almost 6 years.  I miss you so much. I miss talking to you. You always saw the positive side of everything and forced us kids to do the same. I could really use that some days now.  I miss being able to walk down to your house like when I was kid. You always were like a second mom to me. All of us always knew we could come to you with anything and you wouldn't judge. I think that is what made you such a great person. You never judged anyone. I try so hard to be like that. I miss you Aunt Sharon and can't wait to see you again.

Love always,

Renee

Veteran’s Day

Thomas Watson Jr. Age approximately 17
Thomas Watson Jr. Age approximately 17

First I want to say thank you to every man and woman who has served our great country. It is because of you that we are where we are today.

This picture is my father taken many years ago as he is now 81. He thinks he was about 17 when this was taken when he enlisted in the Air Force. I am so proud of this man and thankful that I get to call him my dad. We have had a few to serve in the military in my family. Of course my father served for 20 years. My brother-in-law Travis also served for a few years. Friday I will be sending my oldest son off to do his tour of duty in the army. I am proud (not only on this, Veteran's Day, but every day) that they were able to stand up and do this. I thank them and every man and woman who has served. God bless you!

Let Social Media Inspire you….

Day 7: Writing 101

Today we are to let social media inspire the post we make. I saw this one and had to use it. I am going to school for my doctorate in psychology and truly it seems the more I learn the less I know. One is supposed to get smarter in school right? Yet it does not seem that way. I am finding that I really don't know much of what I probably should have going into to this venture. I study daily and work so hard on my school papers, yet while I am learning I still feel that I have a long way to go before I will know what I need to in order to help those in my chosen field.

Ugh! right? It's amazing that we spend so much on an education to find out that we really don't know very much. How frustrating is that? One starts school with the idea that there will be something to show for it later, but this rarely happens. This scares me. I am almost done with my doctorate yet I feel that I don't know enough yet to help anyone. I guess this will come with experience, but still.

Does this quote sound right to you or not so much?

Have a great day!

A letter to Aarron

Aarron,

What can I say that I have not already? I love you! Happy Birthday! I know that I tell you every day that I love you, but I try to show it too. You are the love of my life. I sometimes wish that I met you sooner, but I know that if we had things would have been different. I guess we both needed the time to grow up so that we could be what the other needs and wants. I've only known you for about 3 years, but I feel as if I have known you forever and I would not change that for the world.

I have never been very good with the spoken word, so I am hoping in writing this out you will begin to understand just how much I really do love you. You are my life, my love, my best friend. I love that I can talk to you about anything and not get the feeling that I am being looked down on after the fact. I love that you can make me laugh every day. I think this is a big part of what helps us work, not only can make fun of the stupid things that either you or I do, but you see the best in me. I don't think that anyone else ever has. Even through my bouts of anxiety, you don't judge me. You try to help with it the best you can. I love you for that.

I know that we will have our disagreements, but I hope that this will only make us stronger. I know that as long as we continue to communicate things will be great for us. I am so lucky to have found you and I will cherish you forever.

Happy Birthday Honey! I love you!

Your wife,

Renee

Where do I Write?

Day 6: Writing 101

Where do I write?

Photo from: www.prnewsonline.com
Photo from: www.prnewsonline.com

So today for writing 101, the question is where do I write? At the moment I am usually at the kitchen table because the house is in disarray due to moving in. Once I have my house in order I hope to have a small area dedicated to my computer and writing materials.  This will probably be in the kitchen still but I hope to be able to create a small space just for working. Because I go to school online and write my blog online, it will have to accommodate both but I don't see a problem with this.

I plan to hang on the wall a few inspirational quotes to help me through those days I don't want to do anything. I love to see upbeat inspiration in every room of my house but near the computer (for me) is especially important.

So what I need from ya'll is help in what you would like to see more of on my blog. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Have a great day!

Renee

Achieve Greatness!

Day 5: Writing 101
Hook em with a quote
Expect that you will achieve greatness. Live a life with no ceiling on it.
- John Lemme
What does this quote make you think of? Is it inspiring to you?
I have always liked this quote and it hangs on my wall near my front door. It is there to remind me that when I leave my house I should live life to the fullest and I will become all that I want to become. It reminds me that we are the ones who put limitations on what we can or can't do. No one else but us. In order to live life to the fullest we have to drop the limitations. I have told my children since the day they were each born that "you can do anything you put your mind to". I really believe this to my core. If you want something you have to go for it, you can't just sit back and hope that it comes to you. You have to work for it.
Have a great day!

The Shock of Night By Patrick W. Carr

Photo from: Bethany House Blogger Review
Photo from: Bethany House Blogger Review

Well this is my first book review and I have to say I chose a good one to read. If you like fiction this book was fabulous. The characters are believable. The plot keeps you guessing from beginning to end. The whole book was very well written. I usually opt for mystery thrillers when I pick a book to read but this one tends to be more of sci-fi type book so I was really surprised that I liked it at all.

The book is written in what appears to be mid-evil times as there is no electricity or other modern devices. They are in a place where magic exists. A man who works as the king's assassin is given a gift to see into people's past. He has to use this gift to find a man who murdered another. A secret society finds that he has this gift and uses him to find another man, who defected from the secret society. Of course in the end most everything works out (isn't that how it almost always happens in books?). I don't want to give away to many details because it would spoil reading the book for you. But if you are looking for a good book to read, this is it!

Story in a Single Image

Day 4: A story in a single image

Today we were to choose an image that speaks to us and then write about it.

Woman in the woods

This image brings back many memories for me. I remember spending time up in the white mountains. It is so beautiful there. I live in the desert so this type of surrounding is so different from my home. When it gets hot here, I usually pack up and head for the mountains where it's cooler. There is so much color and the trees go on for miles. While I would love to live in the mountains, I don't think that I would like the winters much as I don't like snow...LOL. When the snow starts to fall, I go the other way. I keep telling my father that when I grow up (mind you I am now 41) I want to be a snow bird. I would love to live in the mountains during the summer but come back to southern Arizona in the winter. I think this type of live would be amazing.

What do you think of when you see this image?

Have a great day!

Renee

One word Inspiration

Day 3: Writing 101

We were given 6 words to choose from today. The word I chose is HOME.

What do you think of when you hear this word? For me this word brings images of my children and my husband. I think of love and the warm feeling that comes with it. I think safe. Home is supposed to be the safe haven that we all have. It's the one place you can completely be yourself: no having to be someone else to please someone else. Home is where life happens, or it's supposed to anyway.

I also think about our new house that we got last weekend.

20151101_123022

I am trying to turn it into a home that is full of love and safety. I want my children to feel that when they come to visit, they have come home. I am trying to turn this empty shell of a house into a home. What are ways that you personalize a new home? What does home make you think of?

Have a great day!

Matcha Brew Green Tea

*This is a sponsored post*

I work with Tomoson.com to provide reviews to different companies on all types of products. Most of the time I receive the product for free to complete an unbiased view.

Unfortunately, this review is not so good. I did not like the taste of the tea. This in itself was odd as I love tea of all kinds. I have been trying to find something that I could compare the flavor to and I can't come up with anything. Now, I am not saying this product is awful, just that I did not care for it. I know many others that probably would love it.

Have a great day!

Help Please

*This is a sponsored post* (sort of)

As I mentioned a couple days ago, my husband (Aarron) and I just purchased a new trailer. I am now in the process of trying to decorate it on a bit of budget. I have, however, come across a site that specializes in rugs. So now comes the help part. This is a picture of the curtains that will be in the living room - kitchen area (as it is mostly one space I decided to go with one theme). Pictures below. Now looking at rugs-direct.com I have found a couple rugs that could go well with these curtains.

Now, my question is this: Which would look better with the curtains I have chosen? I would appreciate any help one would be willing to give. The quality of these rugs looks great. There price is a little more than what I was originally willing to spend, but I do like both of these. The company also has some great perks for ordering through them like free shipping, 30 day money back guarantee, and a 110% price match guarantee. All great reasons to spend a little extra on a rug I like!

Thanks again!

Have a great day!

Things I wish…..

Photo from: www.backontherack.biz
Photo from: www.backontherack.biz

Day 2 of writing 101 is to create a list. My list is things that I wish for.

I wish:

  1. That my daughter would grow up to be an independent woman.
  2. That my husband and I continue to communicate in a way which brings us closer.
  3. That the insanity of the world would stop.
  4. That my father would live forever.
  5. That my son would come back to me.
  6. That people would be more courteous of others.
  7. That my Aunt Sharon was still with us.
  8. That my husband and I could build a house together.

I know that some of these are irrational, but I still felt I should include them because they are wishes that I do have. I know they will not happen, but I still wish it. The others I am still working on to make them happen. I will keep you updated on the process.

Have a great day!

Why do I write?

Photo from: www.psych2go.net
Photo from: www.psych2go.net

So, I've started writing 101, and already behind 3 days...LOL. Go me! So over the next few days I will try to catch up. Day 1 assignment is to answer the question "why I write".

So mostly I write because it helps me to clear my mind. With my anxiety this is a big deal. Anything that can help to clear my mind helps with my anxiety. I know that I have somewhere that I put my thoughts down "on paper" so to speak. And it gives me the opportunity to hopefully help others dealing with the same thing. That to me is what this is all about. If I can overcome it so can you.

Have a great day!
